Writings
This writing space is home to two companion blogs.
Tending the Self offers ideas, information and tools for anyone seeking to improve wellness in their life.
Steadying the Frontline speaks directly to responders and healthcare professionals, drawing on the realities of operational stress, trauma exposure, and the unique culture of frontline work.
My years as a paramedic shaped the heart of this work. I witnessed coworkers—people of deep compassion and courage—become irrevocably changed by what we experienced. Some never made it home, others were lost slowly, as harmful coping strategies took over. I faced my own mental health challenges and, at times, felt unsupported and unsure of where to turn. These experiences led me into social work and continue to push for better supports for ourselves and for each other.
My hope is that these writings offer hope and support during the moments that feel heavy—whether you’re navigating the demands of frontline work or tending to your own wellbeing. This space is here to help you find tools, connection, and grounded guidance whenever you need it.
Welcome!
